Szynaka day 2019

Last Saturday, 29 June 2019, several thousand people gathered at the stadium in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie. All because of the seventh Szynaka Day, a yearly event which attracts to Nowe Miasto Lubawskie residents not only of the region, but also from the whole country. For lovers of good fun, the stadium in Nowe Miasto turned into the centre of Polish pop music on that Saturday afternoon. It was all thanks to Grupa Meblowa Szynaka, which has organised the largest outdoor even in Warmińsko-Mazurskie Province for seven years. This year the event was officially opened by the Mayor of Nowe Miasto Lubawskie, Józef Blank, and Presidents Alina and Jan Szynaka. Among the guests on stage was also the Marshal of Warmia and Mazury, Gustaw Marek Brzezin, who, like the Voivode of Warmia and Mazury, took patronage of the event. Alina and Jan Szynaka heard words of gratitude from Vice-Mayor of the Nowe Miasto District, Jerzy Czapliński, and Bogumil Kurowski, Director of the hospital in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie, for their contribution and engagement in supporting social initiatives and institutions, including the district hospital.

– Furniture is the largest sector of the Polish economy. The furniture industry is developing in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie and other towns in the Warmia and Mazury region. Poland is the second largest exporter of furniture in Europe and the third largest in the world. Thank you for being with us. This is where our plants are located. Here lies the strength of our entrepreneurship. We are proud that you work in our factories. We boast about our furniture on all continents of the world, in 67 countries you can find furniture produced in the plants of our Group – said President Jan Szynaka.

– This is yet another Szynaka Day. We are glad that this event has become a permanent part of the biggest outdoor events in our province and arouses great interest in such a large number of fans from all over the country. Such initiatives allow us to build a tradition, grow the event’s reputation and strengthen the relationship between the employer, staff, their families and local residents. We are proud that as the biggest employer in the region, we can organise one of the biggest musical events in the voivodeship – said Vice President Alina Szynaka.

Between the individual performances, employees of Grupa Meblowa Szynaka were invited on the stage to take part in competitions: in fishing and OHS, while staff’s children took part in an art competition entitled “Fairytale Furniture”. Also invited to the stage were the employees of Szynaka Meble and PPUHiE Szynaka – creators of a bicycle made of wood – SpeedStarOne – finalists of the fourth competition organised by the Wood Technologists’ Scientific Club of the Faculty of Wood Technology of the Poznań University of Life Sciences. On the stage, Presidents Alina and Jan Szynaka offered their thanks to Maciej Grzywacz – finalist of the national and provincial competition of knowledge on the principles of safety and hygiene at work for students of Craft Schools organised by the Polish Craft Association and the National Labour Inspectorate.

After the official part came the time for a musical feast. The first performer on stage was teenage idol Filip Lato, who met with a very warm welcome from the audience. Next, the well-known Sound’n’Grace choir took to the stage. Then everyone had fun together with Cliver. After such a great music warm-up, it was time for the highlight of the evening – Kombii. Around a dozen thousand people in the audience welcomes Grzegorz Skawiński and his band on the stage with great applause. The artists showed great class and sang many well-known hits together with the audience. Between the concerts there were competitions with prizes for the audience. The event finished with a spectacular firework display and a disco with DJ Młody.

This year’s Szynaka Day was not just an interesting music event, but most of all a great opportunity to meet again and bond for staff employed at Grupa Meblowa Szynaka and residents of the province and other places in Poland.
