Construction began of the Classic Sofa factory
On 18 July, at 1 PM in Lidzbark Welski, the Ground-Breaking Ceremony took place as part of the construction of the new factory of Grupa Meblowa Szynaka – Classic Sofa factory, specialising in the production of upholstered furniture. The investment project implemented in the area of Warmia-Mazury Special Economic Zone is not only another important stage in the development of Grupa Meblowa Szynala, but also a historic moment for the inhabitants of Lidzbark, the whole Działdowo district and neighbouring towns. On an area of over 5.5 hectares, a modern investment project worth over PLN 20 million is being carried out. The first phase involves the construction of the full infrastructure of the plant, a production hall and social area of over 5,000 m2 and office space of 500 m2. Ultimately, the total area of the new factory will be over 20,000 m2. Equipped with state-of-the-art machines and technologies, the plant will eventually employ 400 to even 500 people! The factory is scheduled to open at the turn of this year.
– The objective is that Lidzbark will become our headquarters and the main plant where upholstered furniture production will be carried out. Our ambitions are big, we have interesting ideas and the necessary competences to implement them here in Lidzbark Welski. I promised the mayors – local governors and friends here in Lidzbark that another investment will be made in their town. We always keep our word so our next investment is Lidzbark. Today, Warmia and Mazury has a high level of unemployment, but where the Szynaka Group factories are located, it only reaches 3 – 4 per cent. It appears that we are already starting to run out of reliable workers. Those who have the desire and ambition to develop and want to work in our plants will find stable and secure employment. The same goes for Lidzbark. We want to eliminate the over-10% unemployment rate, or at least bring it down to the 3 to 4 percent that exists in other towns. In the future, 400 to 500 workers will be employed here and the plant will be one of the leading upholstered furniture manufacturers in Poland and worldwide. Our well-established position on the international market and cooperation with global partners guarantees stability and long-term employment opportunities – said Jan Szynaka – President of Grupa Meblowa Szynaka.
The Mayor of Lidzbark, for whom the furniture factory is the apple of his eye and an election promise made several years ago, was very pleased with the commenced investment:
– Today is a historic moment – only a few days ago, we had a field here and a large crop of currants, of which only jam remains. Today, the ground-breaking ceremony for a large furniture upholstery factory is taking place here. In a few months’ time there will be 150 jobs here, a stable, socially responsible employer with very good development prospects. It is a good place to work for people with ambitions, who want to improve themselves, as there will certainly be such opportunities in Lidzbark from now on. It also means fulfilment of a promise I made some time ago to our residents. I am all the more pleased that it is fulfilled today – adds Mayor Maciej Sitarek.
Voivode Artur Chojecki emphasised that the decision to build the plant was influenced both by the operation of the Warmia-Mazury Economic Zone and the government’s actions:
– This is another investment in the furniture industry, which is a leading industry in our region, but also in the country. Thanks to Szynaka Meble we have stable work, our province is developing. Hence the group’s further investment – an expression of the fact that the furniture industry has enormous potential. I am convinced that this will be the case in the years to come. This is influenced by the Warmia-Mazury Economic Zone and the government’s actions aimed at developing key and priority industries in our country – says Voivode Artur Chojecki.
