September 21, 2020 is another very important date in the history of the development of the Szynaka Furniture Group and the entire furniture industry. On that day, at 12:15 p.m., the newly built office, production, and warehouse complex Classic Sofa in Lidzbark was officially opened. Nearly 150 invited guests attended the ceremonial opening, including representatives of national, regional, and local authorities, as well as partners, friends, and employees of the Szynaka Furniture Group.

Classic Sofa is the first plant in Grupa Meblowa Szynaka specialising in upholstered furniture production. Modern machinery, consistently implemented development strategy and the company’s human capital allow for an optimistic outlook on the success of the investment worth nearly PLN 19 million. The use of modern technological and design solutions will allow us to offer the highest quality upholstered furniture on the Polish and world furniture market. The investment is very important not only for the development of Grupa Meblowa Szynaka and Lidzbark, but above all, it is a significant event for the development of the region and the country. The newly built company employs almost 200 people, which has an extremely positive impact on the local labour market. This investment is the first stage in the construction of the Classic Sofa factory, which will ultimately have a total area of over 20,000 m2 and employ up to 500 people. The investment project was carried out in the Warmia-Mazury Special Economic Zone.

The ceremonial part of the meeting began with the guests being welcomed by the President of Classic Sofa, Jarosław Kornowski, who presented a film showing the stages of the factory’s construction. Then the floor was taken by Alina and Jan Szynaka, who thanked the contractors for their contribution and professionalism put into the construction of the new plant and presented them with commemorative congratulation letters. Next, a short speech, congratulations and warm words of appreciation that the company had managed to complete such an excellent investment at such a difficult time of the epidemic were shared by: Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Development Ms Olga Semeniuk, Polish MP Mr Zbigniew Ziejewski, Voivode of Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship Mr Artur Chojecki, Marshall of Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship Mr Gustaw Marek Brzezin, President of Warmińsko-Mazurskie Special Economic Zone Mr Zbigniew Targowski, Starost of Działdowo Poviat Mr Paweł Cieśliński and Mayor of Lidzbark Mr Maciej Sitarek.

The ceremonial character of the event was enhanced by a performance from the Youth Brass Band of the Volunteer Fire Department in Lidzbark, as well as students from local schools: the Primary School in Wąpiersk, the Second General Secondary School in Działdowo, and Primary School No. 1 in Lidzbark.

The highlight of the event was the ceremonial unveiling of a commemorative plaque and the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new complex was blessed by His Eminence, Bishop Wiesław Śmigiel of the Diocese of Toruń.

The ceremony was held under the Honorary Patronage of the Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki.

The invited guests and company employees received commemorative coins, featuring on the obverse the important date in the history of the Szynaka Furniture Group—the opening of the Classic Sofa office, production, and warehouse complex—and on the reverse, the coat of arms of the city of Lidzbark, founded in 1301.

The owners, Alina and Jan Szynaka, would like to thank all the guests for coming in such large numbers. The scale of the ceremony and the presence of the representatives of the state, provincial and local government authorities prove just how important the furniture manufacturer and business partner, Grupa Meblowa Szynaka, really is on the domestic and world market.
